Problem:
Due to acquisition, one of the largest homebuilders in the US suddenly found itself growing 5-fold in size —and 50-fold in IT infrastructure. The company had six months to accommodate more than 100 servers, including a large Oracle JD Edwards system and Oracle Hyperion business intelligence (BI) environment. Downtime or loss of any functionality was not an option. The deadline was strict.

Pravis Solution:
We recommended an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) cloud solution such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services. The company decided on Azure to accommodate existing Microsoft solutions more seamlessly. Pravis set up more than 100 Azure virtual machines and multi-site VPN along with a DR site. TRI Pointe uses Azure SQL to run its Citrix XenApp database. Pravis also helped TRI Pointe reduce costs by moving their Oracle environment to the cloud. Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 helped manage TRI Pointe’s Azure environment and other on-premise applications. Other additions included a document management solution, Citrix XenApp for remote work, and project management applications.

The result: Not only did Pravis help TRI Pointe meet their crucial legal deadline, but the new Azure environment allowed the newly-expanded company some upward scalability that freed staff to focus more on what they do best—build homes.

Problem:
On acquiring another homebuilder in the Pacific Northwest, William Lyon Homes needed a seamless way to combine infrastructures.  Their upcoming needs would include ongoing support for Exchange, Active Directory, VMWare, Veeam, and Citrix (tier 2.)

Pravis Solution:
Pravis expanded the company’s on-premises Microsoft Exchange cluster, and migrated data seamlessly using a third-party method. We also performed a domain migration via ADMT, expanded the Citrix XenApp farm, and leveraged VMWare virtual networking to migrate their IP address scheme to fit company standard.  We helped alleviate storage issues by implementing a 3PAR storage system, and used SAN zoning on Brocade switches to increase disk performance and improve security.
